What is a Faraday Cage?

A Faraday Cage is a conductive box designed to prevent electromagnetic fields from penetrating it (EM or EMF) from the outside. It is a structure built using different non-conducting materials, such as wood, plastic, and brick. This cage’s outer shell should be composed of conductive materials, such as aluminum, wire mesh, metallic sheets, iron, copper, or coils of wire. The exterior coating of a Faraday cage should be conductive on all sides and completely closed from one end to the other to keep the charge or radiation on the outer side of the cage.

Faraday cages are used for several purposes, including protecting electronics from electrostatic discharge and external radio frequency interference. Faraday cages are also known as Faraday shields, RF cages (radio frequency), or EMF cages (electromagnetic force).
